LCBLA student were out in numbers the week of March 10-14th to help prep and execute the 2nd annual All Star Chef Classic held at L.A. Live in Downtown Los Angeles (http://www.allstarchefclassic.com/ ). Over 60 student volunteers worked with over 26 celebrity chefs from France (Ludo Lefebvre, Dominique Crenn, etc.), London (Dan Doherty, James Lowe, etc.), and the U.S. (Nancy Silverton, Michael Cimarusti, etc.)
The three main events were the national themed dinners held in the “Restaurant stadium”. Chef composed multi course meal while the diners spectated and the host kept things lively. All the while our students helped prep and plate the courses, live, I front of the diners in a fast paced banquet service.
Saturday brought the Kitchen Kids event early that day where the hosts played on the pi day date of 3.14.15. Here our students helped teach 200 children how to make rhubarb pie with the leadership of Chef Waylynn Lucas from Fronuts.
Saturday night was the all-encompassing Grill and Chill. An event that brought all of the chefs together in a multi-cultural small bites festival with wine vendors and 20 world renowned chefs. Here our students kept up the professionalism and hospitality by helping to serve thousands of plates.
After all was said and done, many of our students walked away with valuable contact and some even scooped up extern and job opportunities from the likes of Nance Silverton!
